Proverbs 19:21New International Version (NIV)

Many are the plans in a person’s heart,    but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

I seat here wondering about all the plans I had and have laid out for my life and I have to admit they haven't always lined up with what God has had planned for me. Several scriptures come to mind first being Proverbs 19:21. Which states that we may have many plans but the plans that God has prevails. So no matter what our plans are if they do not line up with what God wants for us, things may not happen as we desire/plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 is another verse that talks about plans God has for us and it says, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse reminds us that God already has plans made for us and that they are for our benefit and not to harm us.  Imagine our life is already planned we just have to trust the Lord with it.  Psalm 20:4 says May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Which lets us know that he also plans to give us the desire of our hearts as well. Job 42:2 I know that You can do anything and no plan of Yours can be thwarted. Is the final verse we will look at and it tells that no plans of God will be thwarted. Meaning that His plans cannot be prevented.
So there we have it God has plans they are plans for our good and not to hurt us. He also as stated above gives us the desire of our hearts and the plans he has will not be prevented because they are His Plans. Wow, God is an awesome God and gives us all we need. We just need to be still and hear His direction for where He wants us to go.

Still I Survived

It was a struggle from the beginning of my life.
But I survived.
Thrown to the wolves beaten and bruised.
Still I survived.
No one to listen to my cries in the dark.
Still I survived.
Put away for what felt like forever and a day.
Still I survived.
Thought I was safe but made a mistake.
Still I survived.
Shuffled from place to place to place.
Still I survived.
Eager for love but only received hate.
Still I survived.
So, lost and confused from not knowing the truth.
Still I survived.
Finally, Jesus comes to me giving me peace.
Helping me to truly survive.
No longer a victim living a lie.
Because I survived.

How has Christian Living Changed Your Life?

                     How has christian living changed your life? Is a question I have ponder many times. First one would have to think what is exactly considered christian behavior. The following is what christian living look like in my life;

Living as a christian has changed my life by changing the outlook on life. Has given me a purpose to live and love for all people, though not done easily, I even love those who would be deemed unlovable. I seek joy in my daily life even when going through trials. I have hope that only comes because of God. I have peace that surpasses all understanding. I try to live my life in private as I live in public. I reach out to others helping them with a servant's heart. I try to live so others can see the Jesus in me. It has made it easier for me to forgive. I stay in constant communication with the Lord through prayer and staying in His word. And I live to share the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
All in all the best way to live life as a christian is to live as it says in the bible or simply thinking WWJD (what would Jesus do). And also remember the following from Zig Ziglar, "Look back for forgiveness, Forward in Hope, Down in Compassion, and up with Gratitude"

No Complaints

Recently I was thinking back to when I meet a humble, peaceful, and precious lady named Mary. It was 2014 and it was during the Alive Festival (A Christian Music Festival in Ohio). It was the beginning of the festival for us and we were setting up camp, As I was doing so I was complaining about this or that and Mary made a simple comment that brought me back to reality of what I was doing . Instead of being thankful for what I had, I was complaining with a discontent spirit.

Now she didn't point it out or say it towards me or anyone else. She didn't even realize how much it affected me at that moment. Now I have heard it many times before, but it was this particular time that stuck with me.

She also said that God provides all we need and we should Thank Him. This all seems simple enough but a lot of us seem to forget to do it (even me). As I wrote this particular piece I was blessed with the following verse at the bottom of my journal,

Galatians 2:20(NIV)

20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.
This reminds me that I should live as Christ lives in me meaning for me that I am joyful without complaints. Just content with life no matter what it throws my way. And it also makes me realize that in all situations to have faith in Lord and will be well. So though she didn't intend to Mary caused a stirring in my heart and I thank her.

Closer to God

There is no unique formula or list of rules to get closer to God and sometimes it can be a struggle to get closer because of what you do to get there,

For example you can...

  • In His Word (the bible) on a daily basis. In doing so you get to know Him and His promises that He has for us.
  • You also should try to have a rich prayer life. Meaning, you just talk to Him daily pouring out your heart.
  • You should have love for Him and His people.
  • Meet with other Christians in fellowship.
  • Journal to God. Pouring out your heart in your writings.
  • Serve in an area where you help others that are in need. Putting what you are learning about God into action.
  • Go to church. Because the bible tells us that we should get together and fellowship with other believers.
  • Worship God. Thinking more than just music, think attitude towards God as you listen to the music.
  • Give to God.
  • Share the Gospel to others.
This is just a few things you can do to draw closer to God. In doing them there is no perfect way to execute  them but it is a matter of your heart and where it is as you do them. The point is to get closer to God.

Modern Day Miracle

God may not be parting the Red Sea but He is definitely doing modern day miracles.

The day was September 9, 2015, it was a 90 degree 100% humidity type of day. No air condition to speak of. Sweat pouring down/out of places that you didn't even know could sweat,
On this day Me and my son went to Wal-mart to grab a few items. As we raced through Wal-Mart I felt fine no idea that there was anything wrong. As we walked out of Wal-Mart my world went black for a moment. I remember vaguely talking to two gentlemen as I lay outside of Wal-Mart, to the paramedic in the ambulance, and then vaguely to the ER doctor before my world went dark for approximately 48 hours.
When I woke up I did not realize how serious what happened was until the doctor came in and said "We are surprised you are awake" which was shocking to hear. He then told me I was in multiple system failure (heart, kidney, and respiratory).
I knew immediately that God had performed a miracle by allowing me to wake up that day. I felt revived and alive and my life would never be the same. I have such peace since this time. I am proof as many others are of God's miracles.

Patience and Temper

Most of us have had them a situation in which we have to use patience to get through to said person in the situation or it would turn ugly.

I remember once when I had been praying for patience and help to handle my temper, and boy did I ever get tested. It came to head when I was the center of a situation in which I had to be even tempered and patient.

The other lady in this situation was she extremely upset and was not ready to listen to reason. She keep yelling at me more and more especially when I refused to join her in the yelling match. When she saw I was not going to give in she calmed herself and we were finally able to resolve the situation. Had it not been for me being able to stay calm and patient with the help of the Lord, the situation would have been ten times worse than it turned out to be.

During this time of prayer for patience and temper control I was not only in the situation above but others that did not fair so well. But keeping Proverbs 15:18 in helped me get to the point in which I was able to be even tempered and patient. I still have to work at it but it has become easier.

Hold Your Tongue

When words are many, sin, is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. Proverbs 10:19

I have learned that words can really rip a person apart. Words can hurt a person worse than something physical. This is because words stay with you longer than any physical injury does, most of the time anyways.

I remember several times in which I did not 'hold my tongue' and just let the words flow like water from a faucet not caring how the recipient reacted or how they were hurt by my words.
That is until one day I verbally lashed out at a former supervisor of mine and as a result I ended up suspended from work without pay. And for the longest time I felt I was justified in all that was said. That was until God convicted me an spoke to my heart, showing me the error of my ways.

Sometimes there are things that are better left unsaid, especially when it is not beneficial to the person who is on the receiving end. You should also speak the truth in love and speak words to build a person up and not tear them down. So remember ;hold your tongue' and speak love.
